Child (4-12) and Adolescent (13-17) Services

When children or adolescents experience acute behavioral health symptoms and need intensive inpatient care, Rockford Center in Newark, DE provides a safe, secure environment where patients will receive the highest quality of care. Our experienced, professional staff combines compassion with skill, closely monitoring behavior and medication, consistently tending to the needs of each patient.

Inpatient Treatment

Children’s Inpatient Services are tailored to meet the special needs of very young individuals, 4 to 12 years of age, who have acute psychiatric or behavioral problems.

We tailor our Adolescent Inpatient Services to meet the unique needs of individuals from 13 to 17 years of age. The program goal is to help adolescents and their families clarify problems and issues, opening the way to personal growth and family stability. We help strengthen self confidence in a structured environment that promotes skill building and helps youth develop and strive for realistic expectations that will lead to healthier relationships and a more fulfilling life.

Both Adolescent and Children’s Inpatient Services include:

  • Psychiatric evaluation, medication stabilization if necessary
  • Daily group therapy and skills training
  • Family sessions
  • Academic instruction, provided by on-site certified teachers, one hour each day and in coordination with the home school so students are not considered “absent.” During summer months, Rockford Center provides educational enrichment programs.
  • Allied therapies, including art and music therapy
  • Communication and follow up with school personnel and outpatient therapists
  • Personalized discharge and aftercare plans
